Design Your Own Wristband

It's sort of a Catch-22.  You want to be yourself, an individual; but, you want to be trendy.  Which do you choose?  Do you define yourself by your fashion, or does your fashion accent you?  There are many ways to adopt a fashion look that is all yours and one of the easiest is in the accessorizing.  Not only are there many jewelry options, including custom wristbands, but even things like handbags and shoes play a part in the complete "look" that you put forward. From belts, to jewelry, to designing your own wristband; here are some ideas on how to accent your look with accessories that are popular right now.

A lot of the most recent trends in accessories may seem a little retro at first.  Of course, they are.  Many looks from the late 1970's and 80's are very popular.  It begins with the most simple of accents:  the belt.  Lately, many designers are turning to the belt to add a splash of color, contrast or accent a billowing top.  Not just your regular hold-your-pants-up belt, though.  These belts range from the very skinny to the very wide.  They are meant to be worn at the natural waist and on top of the blouse.  As with many other accessories; belts can be basic neutral colors or very bright and bold.  In fact that is the key to several outfits, bright colored accessories.  It's a trend we can see over the big picture of fashion right now.

The next trend that is common involves several different types of jewelry.  Not just any jewelry, though.  Chunky jewelry.  Bright colored, chunky jewelry.  Anything from rings to bracelets to necklaces can be in bright shiny colors and bigger than you would have chosen in the past.  It's also in vogue to have bright colors in combination.  Turquoise stones on gold, for example.  Several bright colored bangles all worn together.  These can be costume jewelry or even fine jewelry.  Anything from metals to plastic to silicone is fair game.  An excellent option is to design your own wristband.  Doing so will help you fine-tune your look and give you something unique and versatile.

Next, think of your head.  Although they have always been around and in use, headbands are making a strong comeback.  Skinny, wide, cloth, leather headbands, and even bandanas are fair game these days.  They can be worn traditionally; holding hair from the face, with bangs in front, on the forehead at the hairline, or even lower by the eyebrows.  Again, bright flashy colors and big patterns are all the rage. The other great thing about headbands is that they can be worn with long or short hairstyles, with your hair down or in an up-do.  So, find a headband that you love and pair it up with your favorite outfit.

Lastly, a great trend is scarves.  There is a huge range of options here, too.  Several ways to tie a scarf, each giving a different look is only the start.  Yet again, bright colors are the key, and the length of the scarf is varied.  Even a brave few have used scarves as headbands, letting the material trail down the back.  It should also be noted that these accessories are not exclusively for women.  Men have several options with scarves, bracelets, pendants and some necklaces just for them.  Leather is often associated with male accessories and bracelets can include anything from leather to metal to silicone.  The silicone option again gives the wearer the ability to design your own personalized wristbands

Whether you choose to wear a pair of bright colored stilettos while carrying an oversized tote to match, or if you'd rather thrown on a set of bracelets and some chunky earrings; let your style be displayed by your accessories.  Choose wisely, paying attention to color and size, and don't forget that the "look" is about you; not the designer who gave you the idea.
