Livestrong Wristband to Help Identify Body

When police investigate a death, the first they have to do is identify the body. Clothing, hair color, peculiarities help them give descriptions so that friends and family can identify the deceased person. In a recent case in Kansas, one of the identifying characteristics was a yellow Livestrong wristband . This report coming from Leavenworth Times in Kansas: “A section of Second Street has been closed this summer because of flooding from the Missouri River and Five-Mile Creek.

An autopsy was performed on the body, but Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens said authorities are still waiting to learn the official cause of death.

“The most important thing at this point is to identify him,” Kitchens said.

Floodwaters have receded in recent days. But Kitchens said there were times when floodwaters were high enough that the body easily could have traveled from the Missouri River to where it was found. But it’s also possible the man entered the water in the area where his body was discovered. Yellow Livestrong Bracelet

“We just can’t eliminate any possibility,” Kitchens said. The body is said to be that of a white man in his 30s or 40s. He was approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall. His weight and hair color can’t be determined.

He was wearing a pair of size small blue swimming trunks with white horizontal stripes near the waistline. He also had on a “serenity” cross on a dog tag-style chain. The silver cross has an inscription on its outer edges.

He had a green rubber bracelet around one of his ankles and a yellow “livestrong” rubber wristband in a pocket.”
